Inventors Wilbur and Orville Wright launched their homemade flying machine into the air above Kitty Hawk, N.C. in December, 1903. This was the inception of Curtiss-Wright Corporation and it was called The Wright Aeronautical Company. The Wright Aeronautical Company made history in 1929 when it merged with Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company to form Curtiss-Wright Corporation.
Curtiss-Wright went on to become a premier aircraft and engine manufacturer, providing vital support to the War effort; the famous War Hawk, Commando, and Helldiver are a few of our aircraft legacies.
In the period following World War II, Curtiss-Wright diversified into a multinational corporation with key technologies in power generation, metal treatment, and electronics, leading the way to our strong market positions of today.
